Veteran musician Rex Omar has expressed concern about the state of Ghana’s music and creative arts sector, insisting the country is still not structured to properly support industry players.

In an interview with George Quaye on Joy Prime, the GHAMRO Board Chairman revealed that nearly “97% of Ghanaian musicians are not making money” from their craft.

According to him, while a few successful artistes inspire many young people to pursue music, most enter the industry purely out of passion without benefiting from the business side needed to sustain their careers. He lamented that although talent abounds, “the business aspect of it that will sustain them is zero,” leaving many creatives struggling financially.
