MTN Ghana has donated food items, beverages and cash to the Northern Regional Chief Imam in Tamale in support of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

The items included 30 bags of rice, 10 cartons of vegetable oil, 16 packs of mineral water, 15 packs of Malta Guinness, a ram and a mobile money donation of GH¢10,000.

The gesture forms part of MTN Ghana’s nationwide initiative to support Muslim communities at the end of Ramadan, with similar donations made to regional chief imams across the country.

Speaking at a brief presentation ceremony, a representative of the Northern Regional Manager, Mohammed Shayawu, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to community engagement and supporting religious observances.

He noted that Eid al-Fitr is a period of unity, charity and social cohesion, adding that the company values the contributions of the Muslim community to its business.

Mr Shayawu also used the occasion to promote MTN’s mobile application, which enables faster and more convenient mobile money transactions.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Chief Imam, Secretary Abdus-Salam Ahmed Abdulai Habibu Mohammed expressed appreciation to MTN for its continued support over the years.

He said the donation would assist vulnerable members of the community to celebrate the festival and called on the youth to avoid illicit drugs and uphold peace to attract investment into the region.
