Emmanuel Keyekeh, the midfielder for FC Samartex, recently opened up about his difficult time playing for Asante Kotoko, revealing that injuries and lack of playing time made his experience less than ideal.
Keyekeh, who left Asante Kotoko after helping them secure the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title, has since found success with FC Samartex. He has become a fan favorite and team captain, leading the Samreboi-based side to clinch the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League title and secure a spot in next season’s CAF Champions League.
Reflecting on his time with Asante Kotoko, Keyekeh told Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com, “I will say my journey with Asante Kotoko wasn’t good. If you keenly followed my progress at Asante Kotoko, the first season was a whole lot of injuries. The second season, I had preseason and a new coach came, but I didn’t get the attention I needed.”
He continued, “But with Samartex, football is about playing time. I put in the work, the coaches and technical team trusted in me, and they gave me the opportunity to showcase my talent. And we are here today.”
