Charles Kwadwo Fosu, aka Daddy Lumba has finally spoken about the inspiration behind his 2011 mega hit, ‘Yene Wo Sere Kwa’ which means ‘They Are Only Smiling With You (but they don’t love you).

Daddy Lumba disclosed that he wrote the song while he was sick and feeling neglected by society.

The 58-year-old singer said the lyrics came naturally while he was thinking about her mother’s friend called “Yendo Wo” whose name he was reflecting on.

“I was thinking about my mother’s best and only friend called ‘Yendo Wo’ who liked me very much. I knew that she would have definitely visited me if she was around. I also thought about why she had the name Yendo Wo. I realised that it is a message that people don’t love you as you may think.

Daddy Lumba also expressed gratitude to groups which continue to support his career and music.

“My biggest gratitude goes to my fans worldwide, especially my fan clubs all over the globe. I can’t mention their names but I will start with the Die-Hard Fans of Lumba and the Fantasy Club of Daddy Lumba, House of DL, and many more. God bless you all for holding me down, I might not be here without your support”
