Ghanaian songstress, Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah popularly known as Mzbel has officially introduced Kweku Shai as the newest artiste signed to Icetee Records in a special ceremony that honoured tradition.
Instead of the usual contract signing process, the event featured a Ga oath-taking ritual using Schnapps and eggs, symbolising dedication and trust.
Mzbel and the record label’s executives wore traditional Ga outfits as they took the oath to stay committed to the agreement, showing their loyalty to the partnership.
Explaining the importance of the ritual, Mzbel stressed the need for honesty and commitment in the music industry, especially at a time when many artistes break their promises.
“We want the gods to witness that everyone will fulfill their responsibilities. The money we put in, we expect the same effort, creativity, and time in return to build the brand,” she said.
Mzbel had previously expressed her disappointment with artistes she helped, only for them to leave her behind.
This oath-taking ceremony is a way to ensure accountability and prevent such situations from happening again.
After the traditional ritual, the official contract was signed, marking the start of Kweku Shai’s journey with Icetee Records and opening the door for an exciting new chapter in his music career.
