Popular singer Naira Marley and three other people have been cleared by a magistrate court of any role in the killing of Afrobeats musician Mohbad.
Any allegations that Naira Marley, music promoter Sam Larry, Owodunni Ibrahim (Primeboy), and Mohbad’s previous manager, Opere Babatunde, were connected to the disaster were rejected by Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje, who oversaw the case.
However, according to Lagos State’s criminal statutes, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has ordered that Mohbad’s friend Ayobami Sadiq and his auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe be charged with careless and negligent behaviour.
Born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, Mohbad was a young Afrobeats musician from Nigeria who unfortunately died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27.
Protests and demands for a comprehensive investigation followed his unexpected death, which generated a great deal of controversy and conjecture.
According to early reports, Mohbad became unwell after an auxiliary nurse gave him an injection to treat an ear infection.
But his death soon sparked suspicions, with many people wondering what had happened before.
Public indignation was stoked by claims of bullying, threats, and assault by former colleagues, notably Naira Marley and Sam Larry, as well as videos that appeared to show Mohbad in distress in the days preceding his death.
