The Built Environment National Conference on Housing and Hydrology (BENCHH) 2024 is set to take place from Tuesday, July 2nd to Thursday, July 4th at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.
This significant event, themed “Enhancing Collaboration to Tackle Ghana’s Housing and Hydrology Challenges,” will convene stakeholders from various sectors to tackle critical issues affecting Ghana’s urban development and water management.
The BENCHH 2024 conference is designed to provide a comprehensive platform for robust discussions and exchange of insights among experts in the built environment sector. The goal is to develop collaborative solutions to address the pressing challenges facing Ghana’s housing and hydrology sectors. With rapid urbanization, Ghana faces significant challenges related to housing shortages and water management, including frequent flooding and inadequate water infrastructure. This conference aims to address these issues through innovative and sustainable strategies.
The conference will feature a series of panel discussions, workshops, and keynote presentations from leading experts in housing, urban planning, hydrology, and environmental management. Attendees will include policymakers, urban planners, architects, engineers, and representatives from non-governmental organizations and the private sector. This diverse group of participants is expected to foster a holistic approach to problem-solving and strategy development.
One of the key highlights of the conference will be the launch of the National Hydrological Fund on the opening day. This initiative aims to provide the financial resources necessary for comprehensive flood management and water infrastructure projects across the country.
The fund will support initiatives designed to mitigate flood risks, enhance water management systems, and improve overall water security. This is particularly critical as Ghana continues to experience severe flooding, which affects thousands of residents and causes significant damage to infrastructure each year.
In addition to addressing water management issues, BENCHH 2024 will also focus on the housing sector, exploring ways to increase affordable housing, improve urban planning, and develop sustainable building practices. The conference will provide a platform for showcasing innovative housing solutions and successful case studies from other countries that can be adapted to the Ghanaian context.
By the end of the conference, it is expected that participants will have developed actionable strategies and forged partnerships that will drive progress in both housing and hydrology sectors. These outcomes are intended to support Ghana’s broader goals of sustainable urban development and improved quality of life for its citizens.
BENCHH 2024 represents a critical opportunity for stakeholders to come together, share knowledge, and collaborate on solutions that will have a lasting impact on Ghana’s built environment. As the country continues to grow and urbanize, the insights and partnerships developed at this conference will be essential in addressing the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
