The National Theatre of Ghana, in partnership with a team of German theatre professionals, is currently hosting an intensive technical training workshop for its production and technical crew.

The workshop, which began on October 23, 2025, is expected to conclude on November 9, 2025, and forms part of the broader collaboration established between the National Theatre and the visiting German Theatre Group earlier in October. The initiative aims to foster international exchange and capacity development within Ghana’s performing arts sector.

The training focuses on enhancing the technical competencies of staff in key areas such as stage design, lighting, sound management, set construction, and production. Through a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on practice, participants are gaining valuable insight into contemporary European theatre production techniques and sustainable stage management practices.

This workshop represents a significant step in the Theatre’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the foundation of technical theatre production in Ghana. It provides participants with the opportunity to engage with new tools, explore innovative production concepts, and refine their technical artistry to meet international standards.

Beyond skills development, the programme promotes cross-cultural collaboration and knowledge exchange, creating an environment where Ghanaian and German professionals can learn from each other’s creative approaches and problem-solving approaches in theatre production.

It also supports the Theatre’s broader goal of developing a new generation of technically proficient theatre professionals who can drive excellence in the local performing arts industry.

By investing in technical training and international collaboration, the National Theatre of Ghana continues to affirm its commitment to advancing the performing arts, not only on stage but also behind the scenes, ensuring that every production reflects the highest standards of creativity, innovation, and professionalism.
