The MTN FA Cup 2025/26 competition is drawing close to an end, as the semi-final line-up is complete after an action-packed quarter-final round over the weekend saw Aduana FC, Medeama SC, Nations FC and Dreams FC book their places in the last four of Ghana’s premier knock-out competition.
Over the weekend, two gripping quarter-final clashes in the MTN FA Cup produced high drama as Nations FC and Dreams FC both had to bank on penalty shoot-out luck to secure places in the semi-finals.
Nations FC secured a place in the semi-finals after defeating Berekum Chelsea 4–3 in an absorbing penalty shoot-out following a goalless draw in their quarter-final match on Sunday.
The fiercely contested tie, played at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, saw both sides battle intensely but fail to find a breakthrough during 90 minutes of regulation time and an additional 30 minutes of extra time.
Despite several attacking attempts from both teams, solid defensive displays ensured the deadlock remained intact, forcing the match into a decisive penalty shoot-out.
In the shoot-out, Nations FC held their composure to emerge victorious after Samuel Tenedu, Oko Grippman and Benjamin Abaidoo failed to convert their spot kicks for Berekum Chelsea. The Abrankese-based club ultimately sealed a 4–3 triumph to progress to the last four of the competition.
Berekum Chelsea midfielder Samuel Tenedu was named Man of the Match for his influential performance during the contest, despite missing his penalty during the shoot-out.
Chelsea defender Mohammed Seidu was recognised as the Best Defender, while promising Nations FC youngster Frederick Nzoley received the award for Most Promising Player.
The victory sets up a mouth-watering semi-final showdown between Nations FC and Aduana FC.
In the other quarter-final tie, former champions Dreams FC booked their place in the semi-finals after overcoming Kpando Heart of Lions 4–3 on penalties following a dramatic 1–1 draw at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The match lived up to its billing as both sides produced an intense and entertaining contest. Heart of Lions struck first in the 34th minute when Seedorf Asante unleashed a superb effort to give the Kpando-based side the lead and put them firmly in control of the contest.
Just when Lions appeared to be heading for victory, Dreams FC produced a dramatic late response.
Suraj Seidu levelled the score at the stroke of full-time, finishing off a cleverly rehearsed training-ground free-kick routine to force the game into extra time.
With neither side able to break the deadlock during the additional 30 minutes, the quarter-final was decided from the spot, where Dreams FC maintained their composure to claim a 4–3 shoot-out victory.
Despite his side’s disappointment, Heart of Lions captain Ebenezer Abban delivered an outstanding display and was deservedly named Best Player of the Match.
At the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa on Saturday, Aduana FC delivered a dominant display to brush aside Techiman Liberty Youth 3-0. The Fire Boys controlled proceedings from the start, capitalising on their experience to dispatch the Division One League side and keep their FA Cup ambitions firmly on track.
Meanwhile, at the T&A Park in Tarkwa, Medeama SC ended the fairytale run of Division One side Attram De Visser with a convincing 3-0 victory. Medeama’s superior experience and attacking efficiency proved decisive as they sealed their place among the competition’s final four.
