An audio has gone viral capturing some members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Mfantseman Constituency making a mockery of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for choice of a woman as the 2020 parliamentary candidate of the party in the Mfantseman Constituency.

According to the audio in possession of MyNewsGh.com, replacing the Slain Mfantseman MP with his wife Mrs. Ophelia Mensah Hayford as a parliamentary candidate of the constituency is a cool chop for NDC.

Mrs. Hayford replaced her late husband, Mr. Ekow Quansah Hayford, who was the party’s Parliamentary candidate for Mfantseman Constituency until he met his untimely death following his gruesome killing by some unknown assailants on Friday, October 9, 2020, while returning from a campaign tour.

Consequently, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the NPP decided to settle on the wife of the Slain Mfantseman MP after extensive consultations with all stakeholders including the constituents of Mfantseman.

But the Mfantseman Constituency NDC believes the seat is a swing seat which needs a marketable candidate to lead the party.

They disclosed that Mfantseman Constituency doesn’t want a woman to serve as MP in the area since the seat is not a small one

“We were scared of the defeated NPP parliamentary candidate for Mfantseman Constituency who lost in the party’s primary, Mr. James Korsah Brown over the wife of Slain Mfantseman MP” they revealed in the audio.
