NDC Primaries: Voting underway in Ho

Voting is currently underway in the Ho Central Constituency of the Volta region as the National Democratic Congress, NDC, elects their Presidential and Parliamentary candidates for the 2024 general elections.

In all, a total of 20,721 delegates are expected to cast their votes in the region and in the presidential primaries while 18,695 delegates are also expected to vote in the parliamentary primaries. Voting has so far been peaceful and generally smooth as at the time of filing this report.

The premises of the Ola Senior High School in the Ho Municipality of the Volta region is awashed with different sizes of campaign billboards and posters of Parliamentary hopefuls in the Ho Central Constituency.

In all a total of 20,721 delegates are expected to cast their votes across the region and for the presidential primaries while 18,695 delegates are expected to vote in the parliamentary primaries.

 There are 75 parliamentary candidates from 16 constituencies hoping to be elected in todays primaries. There will be  no parliamentary primaries in Agotime-Ziope and North Tongu constituencies as the current members of parliament had no challengers for their seats. 

A total of 2,270 delegates are expected to vote in the Ho Central primaries to elect a candidate from 7 hopefuls to succeed the current member of parliament Mr. Benjamin Kpodo who has decided not to run again  after serving his 3rd parliamentary office after the 2024 elections. 

The seven include  Dr. Robert Doh, Edem Kofi Kpotosu, Lawyer Selorm Kwame Dey and Emmanuel Kofi Dzamefe. The rest are Raphael Korda, Glatey Stanley and Delali Kusu. 

The entire voting process which is being supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission started at exactly 9:30. There are police presence to ensure a smooth voting exercise. 

In an interview with GBCNEWS, the Member of Parliament for the Ho Central Constituency Mr Benjamin Kpodo was hopeful of a successful and incident free primaries and pledged his support to whoever will be elected to represent the constituency in parliament after his tenure ends in 2024.
