The Ranking Member on Lands and Natural resources has assured that, the coming NDC government will investigate what he called the questionable sale and acquisition of state lands under Akufo-Addo-Bawumia regime.

According to him, Former President Mahama has already indicated that under his presidency, the NDC will operationalize the Operation Recover “All Loot aimed at recovering all stolen assets of our dear country”.

Ranking and Member of Parliament for North Alhassan Suhuyini at news conference in Parliament on 3rd September, 2024 stressed the fact, that, “this promise is also boldly captured in the NDC manifesto and we shall endeavour to fully pursue this to the latter in our quest to recover looted state lands under Nana-Bawumia and to hold responsible the kingpins in the illegal mining operations”.

“We shall retrieve all our stolen state lands and flush out the mining crooks from our forest reserves”, he added.

Mr. Suhuyini explained that state capture is a form of corruption where private interests significantly influence a state’s decision-making processes to their advantage.

In essence, it occurs when powerful individuals, businesses, or groups manipulate political and legal frameworks to acquire significant resources or control over public institutions.

He accused the sector Minister for using words and his “deeds seem to be more interested in using the state power he’s clothed with to further the unwholesome interests of some privileged individuals and select businesses than to safeguard public interests and property.

While one can appreciate the difficulty in serving as a minister under the Nana-Bawumia government where majority of appointees are only conduits and spokespersons of the President’s grand agenda to capture crucial state resources for private control and use, the minister’s obsession with partisanship anytime legitimate questions are raised against the ministry is most disheartening”.

“We in the NDC have always strived to place public interests at the core of our engagements and decisions whether in Government or out of Ghana (Make reference to the new foreign affairs building and the land it sits on) and we will continue to champion that path. We shall continue to expose and bring public attention to the shameful agenda to capture state assets by the current regime in order to make it an expensive endeavour for them to carry through their corrupt agenda”.
