The 67th Grammy Awards in 2025 introduces a new category, Best African Music Performance, highlighting the global impact of African music and ensuring annual recognition for African artists. Nigerian stars dominate the nominees, with Davido, Wizkid, Yemi Alade, Tems, Asake, and Lojay all earning spots. South African singer Tyla, last year’s winner, is notably absent from this year’s list. In addition, Rema received a nomination for Best Global Music Album, while Tems secured multiple nominations, including Best R&B Performance for her song “Burning” and Best Global Music Album for Born in the Wild. These nominations showcase the influence of African artists in the global music scene.
