Head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo has revealed his favourite musicians.
Four Ghanaian artists are on the list, including the self-acclaimed Dancehall King and multiple award-winning musician, Shatta Wale.
Otto Addo told Head of Sports at Media General, Michael Oti Adjei in an exclusive interview that despite his inability to speak the Ga language, his love for the language makes him admire Shatta Wale particularly when he sings in the language.
Otto Addo also listed Kwesi Arthur, Sarkodie, and Black Sherif as his other favourite Ghanaian musicians in addition to Shatta Wale.
He named two more Nigerian musicians he admires Mr. Eazi and Buju BNXN.
In an interview with 3Sports, the Black Stars manager mentioned that he enjoys listening to music and has a musical inclination.
“I also love to listen to music, for sure,” he said. When asked about his favourites, he said, “So many, and I’ve said it before. Even though I don’t speak Ga, I love to hear Ga. So, I love Shatta Wale, especially when he talks and speaks in Ga. Surely, Kwesi Arthur, Sarkodie – great lyrics, Black Sherif, Mr Eazi – I love him, and also from Nigeria, BNXN Buju.”
Otto Addo is currently having a successful start to his second stint with the Black Stars.
In his first four games after taking the helm in March 2024, he has won two, lost one, and drew one.
The German-trained manager has led the Black Stars to the second spot in the group for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, tied with the leading team Comoros on nine points.
