The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Okatakyie Hotel in Takoradi has been accused of assaulting a customer and later bragging that he will not face any consequences due to his connections to prominent people in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), particularly the Member of Parliament for the area.

Kojo Asante Anane, the Okatakyie Hotel CEO, allegedly assaulted a customer, identified as Daniel Pumi, while wielding a belt and a pump-action gun. The unprovoked assault left the victim bleeding from cuts he sustained as well as various other bodily injuries.

More injustice was to follow the assault as Mr. Anane swiftly proceeded to the police to report Daniel Pumi and got him jailed at the Takoradi Central Police Station on the back of concocted accusations. The move was to forestall Pumi getting him arrested for assault and to get the police on his side.

Despite his injured state, the Police went ahead to arrest the victim and jailed him until a friend posted his bail for Ghc 1,000.

The incident has shocked the city of Takoradi over such blatant disregard for human life and the abuse of power on display. Mr Anane, following the assault, is alleged to have boasted that no one can hold him accountable, citing his connections with the Takoradi police and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Effia, Honourable Yaw Boamah-Nyarko.
