Oliver Barker-Vormawor: Court directs Lawyers to file bail addressing legalities

An Accra Circuit Court has directed Lawyers for Convener of Democracy Hub, Oliver Barker-Vormawor to file a formal bail application addressing the legal challenges surrounding the grant of bail to him.

His Lawyers made an oral submission for bail after he was denied same by the Accra High Court presided over by Justice Ayitey Armah Tetteh relying on Section 96 clause 5(C) of Act 30.

Mr Barker-Vormawor is currently facing trial at the High Court for treason.

The Circuit Court however granted bail to Fanny Otoo another protestor who is reported sick and at the hospital.

The Prosecution did not oppose her admission to bail. She was granted bail in the sum of 20,000 cedis with two sureties.

A State Attorney Nana Akosua Kusi informed the Court that the prosecution has filed the first batch of disclosures but yet to serve the defence lawyers.

She indicated that the State will file other disclosures as directed by the Court at the last adjourned date. In another development, the Circuit Court admitted ten persons including one of the leaders of Democracy Hub, Ralphael Afful Williams to bail set at 20 thousand cedis with one surety.

The Judge Kwabena Kodua Obiri directed the prosecution to file all witness statements.

Both cases have been adjourned to Monday, October 14, 2024.
