Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has emphasized the need for global partnership and cooperation to achieve health security for all.
Speaking at the African Health Sovereignty Summit, Obasanjo stressed that pandemics know no borders and require a collective response.
“We have to work separately and together for health security for all,” Obasanjo stated.
He advocated for a global approach to health security, highlighting the importance of solidarity, cooperation, and collaboration among nations.
Obasanjo proposed the slogan “Africa Health Without Aid” as a guiding principle for the continent’s health initiatives, stressing that global partnership is essential in making this vision a reality.
“I believe the global slogan for us should now be Africa health without aid, but with global partnership, solidarity, cooperation, and collaboration, and of course, togetherness,” he said.
Obasanjo’s call for global cooperation comes at a time when Africa is grappling with numerous health challenges, including infectious diseases and inadequate healthcare infrastructure.
By working together, African nations and the global community can develop effective solutions to these challenges and promote health security for all.
