Great Olympics head coach Annor Walker has revealed both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko rejected midfielder Gladson Awako when the ex-TP Mazembe star expressed interest in joining the clubs.
The 30-year-old 2015 CAF Champions League winner has been a subject of transfer interest from both Hearts, Kotoko and Medeama on the local scene.
Walker, who revealed he convinced the former Phoenix Rising midfield star to stay at Olympics after he had decided to leave the club before the start of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season, reveals the midfielder was interested in joining Kotoko and Hearts before the start of the season but the clubs rejected him.
“Both Hearts and Kotoko rejected him [Gladson Awako] before the start of the season. They said he is an old man and thought he can’t perform,” he told Benedict Kwadwo Mensah on Asempa FM.
Awako has reportedly reached a deal with Hearts and announcement is imminent in the coming days.
