The head pastor of the Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp in the Ashanti Region is in police custody for allegedly attempting to bury a five-month-old baby alive at Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District.
The suspect, Apostle Dr. Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, together with an accomplice, was arrested by police in Bibiani after a community member raised an alarm over the suspicious activity.
An eyewitness, Winfred Agbah, narrated that at about 11 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, he spotted the pastor and his accomplice at a refuse dump with the baby under suspicious circumstances.
“I approached them and realised the child was still alive, prompting me to raise an alarm. The baby was not dead; they intended to bury the child alive for reasons best known to them,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chief Linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu, revealed that the pastor had earlier approached him claiming the child was dead and requesting a burial site. He said he was unaware that the infant was still alive at the time.
Police in Bibiani have detained the pastor and his accomplice while investigations continue. The baby has been rushed to the Abofrem Clinic, where it is currently receiving medical treatment.
