Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi AdamsThe Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has voiced concern over the current system for paying winning bonuses to Ghanas national teams and athletes. His comments come in the wake of the Black Queens recent threat to boycott their 2026 Womens Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Egypt due to unpaid bonuses. The players have since agreed to honour Tuesdays return leg at the Accra Sports Stadium following a meeting with ministry officials and the technical team.Speaking on Asempa FM, Mr Adams described the existing payment structure as problematic and in need of review.”I have a problem with the structure, and I believe we should have a conversation around it,” the Member of Parliament of Buem constituency said.”As part of my policy initiative, we have a committee to look into the remuneration structure of our athletes and officials,” he added. The Black Queens go into Tuesdays clash with a 3-0 advantage from the first leg played in Ismailia, Egypt, last week.
