Black Leopards’ new Ghanaian coach Maxwell Konadu, who is idolising Pitso Mosimane, one of the most successful coaches in Africa, says he is taking a lot of inspiration from the legendary South African coach.

The former Black Stars assistant coach signed a three-year deal with Leopards to become their coach following a successful stint at Nsoatreman.

Konadu’s appointment brings hope to Leopards, who have struggled to regain their top-flight status since their relegation in the 2019/20 season.

Speaking after his appointment, the new Leopards tactician hasn’t hidden his affection for Mosimane.

“I respect Pitso so much, and he’s been my role model for some time. I chat with him sometimes…I’ve been following him a lot,” Konadu said, as quoted by SowetanLive.

Pitso Mosimane is one of the most successful and decorated coaches in South African football history. He has won a total of 19 major trophies over the course of his career.

With SuperSport United, he won the Coca Cola Cup and the SAA Top 8 trophy.

With Mamelodi Sundowns, he won 5 league titles, 2 Telkom Knockout Cups, 2 Nedbank Cups, the 2016 CAF Champions League, and the CAF Super Cup.

With Al Ahly in Egypt, he won 2 CAF Champions League titles, the Egyptian Cup, and 2 CAF Super Cups.

Most recently, he won the Saudi Arabian First Division title with Al Ahli, becoming the only known South African coach to win a trophy outside of Africa.
