The Ghana Police Service has reported the arrest of nine additional suspects in connection with post-election disturbances across the country.
This brings the total number of arrests related to such incidents to 132.
According to an evening brief released by the Police on December13, 2024, the arrested suspects have been arraigned accordingly.
“They were remanded into custody to reappear at a later date,” the Police statement stated.
“Additionally, three of the four suspects apprehended within the past 48 hours have also been remanded by the court, while one was granted Police Inquiry bail,” the statement added.
The statement indicated that a total of 45 suspects remain in custody, 71 have been granted Police Inquiry bail, and 16 are currently out on court bail.
The Police also provided updates on their investigation into a shooting incident that occurred on December 8, 2024, at the Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency Collation Centre in the Eastern Region.
The victim, who was injured during the disturbances, is receiving medical treatment and assisting the Police with the ongoing investigation.
Reaffirming their commitment to maintaining law and order, the Ghana Police Service has emphasized their resolve to ensure the security and safety of all Ghanaians through enhanced patrols and the deployment of personnel to sensitive infrastructure across the nation.
The Police called for calm and cooperation from the public as they continue to address incidents linked to the post-election period.
