The Western Regional Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with the murder of John Abban at Asemkor in the Agona Nkwanta District of the Western Region.
According to the police, the victim, who was the brother of the chief of Butre and Asemkor, was attacked and killed on October 6, 2025, following a chieftaincy dispute in the area.
The suspects initially fled the community after the crime but were later tracked down through sustained intelligence efforts by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate.
On October 15, 2025, three suspects—namely Kennedy Abor, alias Abongo (30); Kojo Attah Panyi (20); and Joseph Basses (30)—were arrested at their hideout in Funko.
Later, on October 21, 2025, two main suspects, Abraham Cudjoe, alias Yalle (39), and Ekow Painstil (45), were arrested at Afuaman Ayigbe Town in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region through a joint operation involving the Western and Accra Regional Intelligence Directorates.
Police say all five suspects are currently in custody, assisting with investigations, and will be arraigned before court soon
