Police Chiefs commiserate with Rawlings over mother’s death

Members of the Ghana Police Service Management Board (POMAB) was today at the residence of the former President of Ghana Jerry John Rawlings to commiserate with him for the loss of his mother Madam Victoria Agbotui.

The team from the Ghana Police Service was led by Inspector-General of Police(IGP), Mr James Oppong-Boanuh.

Other Members of the delegation included Commissioners of Police George Akufo Dampare, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, George Tuffour, George Alex Mensah, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah, Vincent Dedjoe and Adu Anim.

Also present were ACP Joseph Owusu Ansah, Chief Superintendent Philip Kwaku Atsiasa, Superintendent Sheila Buckman and DSP Michael Adjei.

Speaking on behalf of the Police Management Board, Commissioner of Police in charge of Legal and Prosecutions, Nathan Kofi Boakye, said: “The Police Administration decided to visit you to commiserate with you on the demise of your mother, our mother and mother of the nation. I say mother because she has produced for us one of the greatest leaders of our generation”.

On his part, Dr. Senanu Djokoto, who spoke on behalf of the former President and his family outlined details of the funeral to the delegation and extended the gratitude of the family to the Police Service for the sure of sympathy and support.

Meanwhile, the Former President will bury his mother Victoria Agbotui on Saturday, October 24, 2020.

Madam Agbotui who was aged 101 passed away on September 24, 2020 after suffering a short illness.

According to the programme released, a pre-burial service will be held in her honour at the forecourt of the State House in Accra, before the body will be taken to the Ketasco Park in Keta in the Volta Region, for her final burial service.
