The police in Ghana have shot and killed a suspected armed robber during an intelligence‑led operation at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

A Police brief identified the deceased as Osman Amadu, also known as Manu, who had earlier been linked to a robbery gang responsible for shooting into a moving vehicle on March 14, 2026, along the Atebubu-Ejura highway, injuring a passenger.

The brief said that on March 18, 2026, at about 2230 hours, a team from the Police Intelligence Department Headquarters proceeded to Ejura to arrest Amadu at his hideout.

During the arrest, Amadu, described as “notorious,” pulled out a single‑barrel gun in an attempt to engage the Police team.

“In response, the team discharged their weapons, hitting the suspect, who fell on the ground,” the brief said.

A search conducted on him led to the retrieval of a single‑barrel gun, five live cartridges, GH¢200 cash and a Techno Pop 10 mobile phone.

Amadu was rushed to the Atebubu Government Hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead by the medical officer on duty.

His body has since been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy.
