Counting has officially begun following the conclusion of Ghana’s General Election, with election officials starting the process of sorting and tallying votes from the 275 constituencies.
The Returning Officer, Ghana’s Electoral Commission is overseeing the results collation, and media houses have been granted access to monitor the process to ensure transparency. Ghanaians are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the presidential and parliamentary elections, which will determine the nation’s leadership for the coming term.
However, polling stations in five regions experienced delays in opening. The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has reported that polling stations in the Northern, Oti, North East, Greater Accra, and Eastern regions did not open on time.
In these areas, polling stations began after 7:15 a.m., causing a delay in the start of voting. Despite this setback, the election proceeded, and the counting of ballots is now underway.
