President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday signed the COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy Repeal Bill, 2025 into law.
By this COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy Repeal Act, 2025, the one per cent COVID-19 Recovery Levy on goods, services and imports, has been abolished, which has been in operation since 31st March, 2021.
President Mahama noted that the repeal of the COVID-19 Levy was in fulfilment of his campaign promise to scrap the tax, which he described as “difficult to comprehend”.
The signing of the COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy Repeal Bill, 2025, was witnessed by Mr Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, the Clerk to Parliament; Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, the Finance Minister and Acting Defence Minister, Mr Julius Debrah, the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Madam Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew, Senior Legal Advisor to the President; and Dr Dominic Akurutinga Ayine, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice.
The rest are Mrs Joyce Bawa Mogari Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to the President and Mr Samuel Nartey George, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations.
