The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has defended the credibility and competence of President John Mahama’s recent government appointments, pointing to the handling of the National Service registration delay as clear evidence that the new leadership is “up to the task.”

Speaking during a live interview session, Dr. Amoakohene placed a call to the General Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Mr. Felix Gyamfi, seeking answers to the ongoing concerns of graduates over the suspension of the 2025/2026 service registration portal.

In his response, the General Director of the NSA, Mr. Felix Gyamfi, confirmed that the suspension of the registration portal was necessary due to irregularities identified within the system shortly after it was opened in June. The Authority, he explained, could not continue the process until the issues were properly addressed to safeguard the credibility of the exercise.

According to him, technical checks and investigations have now been completed, and the scheme is finalizing measures to ensure a smooth and credible registration process when the portal reopens.

Mr Gyamfi further clarified that while the delay was regrettable, it would not disrupt the mandatory military training component of National Service.

He noted that discussions were ongoing with the Ghana Armed Forces to ensure a smooth transition once the portal is restored, emphasizing that opportunities would be created for all prospective personnel to register, even if it meant opening emergency bandwidth.

Dr. Amoakohene urged graduates to exercise patience, assuring them that under the new leadership, systems will be stabilized.
