Just two days ago, the Amasaman High Court reduced the prison sentence of controversial evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah (Nana Agradaa) from 15 years to 1 year, after ruling that the original punishment was excessive.

In its decision, the court upheld her conviction but exercised its discretionary powers to review the sentence.

The court concluded that while the offence justified a custodial punishment, the initial 15-year term with hard labour was disproportionate to the circumstances of the case.

The Court also fined her 200 penalty units, which amounts to GHS2,400.

The revised sentence is to take effect from the date of her conviction on July 3, 2025. This means Nana Agradaa will serve a total of 12 months in prison.

Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess who later turned an evangelist, was convicted of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretences. The trial court’s decision to impose a lengthy sentence with hard labour generated widespread public debate and drew significant legal attention.

Reacting to the new judgment, award-winning blogger and vlogger, Rashad has praised Justice Solomon Oppong-Twumasi for reducing Agradaa’s sentence from 15 years to just a year.

According to Rashad, although Nana Agradaa is notoriously known for her infamous sika gari scam but the judge based his judgment solely on the GHS 500 money doubling scam.

Speaking on GhPage’s Rash Hour Show, Rashad also cautioned Nana Agradaa and her husband, Angel Asiamah to turn a new leaf as they’ve been given a second chance.
