Chereponi Yendi Road

Residents and commuters along the Chereponi-Yendi road are urging the government to swiftly repair the deteriorating route, which has been exacerbated by heavy rains during the current season.

The road, crucial for connecting Chereponi to the Northern region and beyond, has become impassable in places due to flooding, causing significant stress and difficulty for travellers.
One resident expressed frustration about the situation: “You should have come during the rainy season.

But when it came to the flagbearer-ship, candidates were able to pass on the road, and to our information, on papers, the road had been tarred, only for them to come and see that the road wasn’t tarred. It’s an unfortunate situation here.”

The Chereponi-Yendi road spans through Yendi Municipal, Saboba District, and Chereponi District, with particularly severe sections noted in Saboba and Yendi districts.

Hajia Nashiru Zuwera, the District Chief Executive for Chereponi, acknowledged ongoing efforts to address the road’s condition, reporting that 6.4 km of repairs have been completed in the Chereponi District, with additional materials delivered to continue the work.

Despite these efforts, commuters are urging the government to expedite the repairs to alleviate hardships and reduce risks, including potential robberies facilitated by poor road conditions.
