A former Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for Cape Coast South constituency in the Central Region, Mr. George Ricketts Hagan, has been sworn in as the Board Chairman of the newly constituted Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) board.
The nine-member GRA board was sworn into office by the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, at a short inaugural ceremony in Accra.
Dr. Ato Baah Forson tasked members of the board with the responsibility of driving revenue growth and upholding integrity.
Addressing the newly inaugurated board, the Finance Minister stressed the critical role of the GRA in national development, noting that government policies depend heavily on the revenue it generates.
He therefore charged the board to lead with dedication and a strong sense of integrity, and called for decisive measures to combat smuggling activities across the country’s borders.
According to him, the time has come for the nation to look within and raise domestic revenue more extensively to anchor government expenditure.
