Renowned Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur, Reggie Rockstone, has spoken out following a devastating fire that ravaged his popular eatery, Rockz Waakye, and parts of the Accra Tourist Information Centre in the early hours of Monday.
In a video posted on his official Facebook page and sighted by GhanaWeekend on Monday,July 4,2025, Reggie Rockstone appeared visibly emotional as he stood beside his wife, Zillah Limann, who looked shaken and speechless. The video, tagged at 5:23am, captures the aftermath of the fire that gutted the roof of the facility.
“Yes, there has been a fire,a pretty devastating one,” Reggie confirmed. “The good news is that no human being was harmed. Life is what matters. Material stuff, we don’t take when we check out, so we give praise to Jah for this.”
Despite the extent of the damage, Reggie expressed deep gratitude to the Ghana National Fire Service for eventually bringing the fire under control.
“I know you’re going to catch a lot of flack because you’re so close to us in terms of proximity,” he said. “But we found out you had to go and quench fires at several other places, so you were exhausted. But you finally did what you had to do, and you put it out.”
He condemned false reports and prank calls made during the emergency, calling them “terrible” and “evil,” and urged the public to disregard rumors surrounding the incident.
His wife, Zillah Limann, also shared a brief but hopeful message: “There will be no waakye, unfortunately, today. But I’m sure we’ll be back soon. We don’t know when yet.”
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, and other officials visited the scene to assess the damage.
Though the future of Rockz Waakye remains uncertain in the immediate term, Reggie Rockstone was resolute: “We are still here. We are going to carry on.”
