Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced a special initiative dubbed “Free Fuel Friday”, aimed at easing the burden on commercial transport operators across the constituency.
The exercise is scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2026, and targets commercial drivers, including trotro and taxi drivers, KIA truck operators, okada riders, and boat operators operating within North Tongu.
According to the announcement, the fuel distribution will take place simultaneously at designated fuel stations across the constituency between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
In the Battor and Mepe areas, beneficiaries can access fuel at Star Oil, Battor, and Alinco, Aveyime. Meanwhile, operators in Dorfor, Volo, Fodzoku, and Torgorme will be served at Life Energy, Juapong, and Alinco, Juapong.
The initiative forms part of efforts to ensure that residents and transport operators directly benefit from what has been described as the economic recovery and recent reductions in fuel prices under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.
The event is being sponsored by the North Tongu MP and friends, and reflects the MP’s commitment to supporting livelihoods and reducing operating costs for transport operators who play a critical role in the local economy.
The programme has been widely welcomed by residents, with many seeing it as a timely intervention that underscores the theme of “North Tongu Rising” and community-centered leadership, captured in the hashtag #TogbeWorgbedziCares.
