Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has shared a humorous yet unforgettable story about what he considers the worst performance of his career, revealing that it happened after he unknowingly consumed weed-laced biscuits ahead of a show in the United States.
Speaking in an interview on Monday December 22 with Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie on Hitz FM, Sarkodie explained that his dissatisfaction with a performance does not always reflect the crowd’s reaction.
“Funny enough, the crowd was excited, so it wasn’t about that,” he said. “It’s hard to explain. You know when a show is good.”
The rapper recalled arriving at his hotel in the US, where he was welcomed with a hamper containing drinks and biscuits. Unaware of what was inside, he consumed some of the biscuits, not knowing they were infused with weed.
“They mixed it with weed, and I didn’t know,” he revealed.
As the effects kicked in, Sarkodie said his perception of the performance became distorted, with everything feeling unusually slow.
“In my head, all my songs were playing slow,” he said, adding that he even began asking “silly questions” backstage and on stage.
Despite the crowd’s enthusiasm, Sarkodie described the experience as deeply uncomfortable for him, insisting it remains the worst show he has ever performed.
“That was the worst performance of my life,” he admitted.
However, the reaction from fans told a different story. According to Sarkodie, many people who attended the show later told him it was the best performance they had ever seen.
“Everyone that came said that’s the best performance they’ve seen, but for me personally, it was the worst,” he said.
Sarkodie concluded by noting that artistes often judge their performances based on personal feeling rather than audience applause, explaining that a good crowd response does not always translate into personal satisfaction on stage.
The story has since amused fans online, with many praising the rapper for his honesty and ability to laugh at himself.
