The Savannah Foto Festival is fast becoming one of Ghana’s leading platforms for visual storytelling after a successful second edition in northern Ghana.

The week-long festival featured over 500 photographs from more than 60 photographers, highlighting culture, conservation, climate change, daily life, and youth perspectives in the northern regions. Exhibitions were held in public spaces, with a major showcase at Mole National Park, which was turned into an open-air gallery.

Led by award-winning visual storyteller Geoffrey Buta through Buta Visual Agency and Foto4Change, the festival aims to preserve Ghana’s stories while promoting creative education and community engagement.

More than 1,000 people, including tourists, students, creatives, and local residents, attended the event. Regional leaders and international guests, including the Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, praised the festival for promoting culture, tourism, and conservation.

Despite being largely self-funded, organisers say the Savannah Foto Festival continues to grow and plans to expand to other regions with increased support.
