The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has issued a public warning to government employees about a surge in fraudulent calls from individuals impersonating its staff.

According to the Department, these scammers have been contacting government workers, particularly those on the Integrated Personnel Payroll Database (IPPD), and demanding payment for payroll-related services.

The CAGD emphasized that it does not charge any fees for the services it provides to government employees. “Any calls requesting payment for these services are fraudulent and should be ignored,” the Department said.

Government employees have been advised to remain vigilant, not to share personal or financial information, and to verify the identity of anyone claiming to represent the Department before responding.

For verification or clarification, employees are encouraged to contact the Department directly via the following official numbers:

  • Head Office: 0303 987 950 / 0303 987 951
  • Greater Accra Region: 0303 987 952
  • Eastern Region: 0303 987 953
  • Central Region: 0303 987 954
  • Ashanti Region: 0303 987 955

The CAGD urges all employees to report any suspicious calls immediately to help protect themselves from fraud.
