Scholarship Secretariat equips Farmers with Skills on Agribusiness

The Ghana Scholarship Secretariat believes that knowledge acquisition is key and for that matter, would continue to engage awardees in varied training programmes locally and abroad, to be equipped with requisite skills and knowledge in current and best practices in agriculture.

“We are already witnessing tangible and significant changes in the agricultural value chain due to the friendly policies introduced by the government of H. E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo”, Registrar of the Secretariat, Mr. Kingsley Agyemang revealed.

Delivering a key note address at a three-day Agribusiness Capacity Building Organized for awardees and winners’ of 2019 National Farmers in Kumasi, the government plans to improve the living standard of farmers in the country

“All awardees at the regional and national levels would be entitled to two (2) scholarship slots for their dependants of choice pursuing higher education at the tertiary levels”, the Scholarship Secretariat Registrar announced.

According to Mr. Kingsley Agyemang, many jobs have been created under the flagship program planting for food and jobs and youth in agriculture programmes.

“Let us continue to improve competitiveness of agribusiness for the benefit of the general population. The Ghana Scholarships Secretariat will continue to partner with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in training our farmers to build their capacities to impact their farming activities and businesses”.

He also said that basic farm inputs are easily accessible, post-harvest losses have drastically reduced with the introduction of one-district-one factory policy which provides ready markets for our produce.

“It is my hope and expectation that, this workshop shall be used to encourage greater engagements in agro-industry by all stakeholders even as we go into the December 2020 general elections.” Zoure/2020
