Pastor Isaac Attah Lawrence, the Aworowa District Pastor of the Mid-North Ghana Conference (MNGC) of the Seventh Day Adventist Church says the church remains dedicated to create more jobs for the people.
He said the church was creating jobs in the Bono East Region through the establishment of a mineral water production, the Asempa Cooperative Credit Union, as well as mushroom production and commercial borehole-water projects.
Pastor Lawrence said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Aworowa in the Techiman North District of the region on the sidelines of the 10th anniversary celebration of the church.
He said besides the spiritual development of the members, the church had the responsibility to bring improvement in the socio-economic livelihood of the people.
Pastor Lawrence bemoaned the negative impact of social media on society and urged the youth to utilise the new media to better their lots and to impact society positively.
“Let’s use our God-given talents, time, energy and related resources productively, for the good of our nation and society”, he advised, cautioning the youth against engaging in the get-rich quick syndrome, popularly known as ‘Sakawa’.
Pastor Lawrence said bad practices like drug abuse, gambling, sport betting, and its related social vices that could ruin their lives.
Speaking on the theme for the anniversary: “10 years of faithful mission”, Pastor Jacob Atta Ankomah, the President of the MNGC described the anniversary as a milestone and urged the church to remain steadfast, and enduring.
“Sometimes, trials and sufferings turn to weaken the Christian’s faith”, he noted, urging the church that: “We have to endure till we attain the ultimate, just like Jesus Christ did”.
