The Seattle Seahawks produced a dominant defensive performance to defeat the New England Patriots 29–13 in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday.
The victory denied the Patriots a record seventh NFL championship and allowed Seattle to avenge their Super Bowl loss to the same opponents 11 years ago.
In a game that offered limited attacking excitement, the Seahawks’ defence proved decisive, sacking Patriots quarterback Drake Maye six times. One of those sacks resulted in a crucial fumble that was returned for a late touchdown, sealing Seattle’s control of the contest.
Seattle took charge early through the boot of Jason Myers, who converted three field goals in the first half as the Patriots struggled offensively, punting on all five of their opening possessions. Myers would go on to finish with five field goals, while Sam Darnold connected with AJ Barner for a short touchdown following a costly Maye fumble late in the third quarter.
New England briefly responded through a 35-yard touchdown pass from Maye to Mack Hollins, but another interception soon halted their momentum and led to yet another Myers field goal.
Kenneth Walker III was named Super Bowl MVP after rushing for 135 yards on 27 carries, becoming the first running back to win the award since 1998, as Seattle claimed its second Super Bowl title.
