In a commendable initiative to support education in underserved communities within Sekondi Constituency, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Blay Armah Nyameke, has donated substantial educational materials to 22 Basic Schools.
The donation, totalling 50,000 free exercise books, 30,000 pens, and 15,000 pencils, aims to alleviate the financial burden on parents and enhance the learning experience for approximately 10,000 students.
Speaking to Channel One TV News during one of the presentations at Nkontompo Ekow Nketsia Basic School, Mr Blay emphasized the importance of providing essential school supplies to students, especially in communities facing economic challenges. He expressed his commitment to expanding the initiative, with plans to increase the donation to 100,000 items in the next academic year.
George Eshun, Headteacher of Nkontompo Ekow Nketsia Basic School, acknowledged the timely nature of the donation. He highlighted that many students often come to school without the necessary supplies, hindering their academic progress. He expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the materials would significantly aid students’ studies and improve overall educational standards.
While appreciating the donation, Mr Eshun also raised concerns about the classroom chairs and textbooks shortage, urging the government to intervene swiftly.
The beneficiary schools, including Kweikuma Gethsemane M/A Basic School, St. Ann’s JHS, and others listed, are expected to benefit immensely from this generous gesture, ensuring that each student receives adequate resources to support their education effectively.
