Dr. Cecilia Eliason, Senior Lecturer at the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Ghana- Legon has underscored the importance of sex in lowering Blood Pressure (BP).
According to her, it is a form of exercise that in the long run lowers the Blood Pressure but was quick to advise persons who have high Blood Pressure to be cautious when engaging in sexual activity.
“Sex is exercise after that it brings your BP down but you should also know your Blood Pressure. It is safe to have sex when you have High Blood Pressure but you should know your numbers. What sex actually does is that it takes the numbers up and later brings it down. Know your numbers and no vigorous sex when you have High Blood Pressure”, she advised on GTV
She also cautioned against sedentary lifestyles which involve sitting or lying down while engaged in an activity like socializing, watching TV, playing video games, reading or using a mobile phone or computer for much of the day.
This she noted exposes human beings to High Blood Pressure noting that at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day is very important to keep the body in Shape.
