Civil Engineer and former General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwabena Agyei Agyepong says he will blame Asiedu Nketia for the introduction of the politics of insult in Ghana.

Ghana’s political landscape is now characterized by insults. Individuals use that tangent to build their image as notorious and no-nonsense in order to be liked by the youth.

Such persons are mostly rewarded with positions or given a seat at the high table.

But commenting on the shift from politics of issues to politics of insults, Kwabena Agyepong said he will blame Asiedu Nketia.

“I blame Asiedu Nketia and I have told him this. He started that thing,” he said.

He continued “Ghanaians have a character, we respect elders so we should not insult in character…When he said a lineup of 17 thieves I called him and said Asiedu you are running down the whole political establishment down in the eyes of Ghanaians. They are no thieves and they and you have no business doing that.

The situation was compounded by my predecessor because he came and he was giving pound for pound. Sir John which I think he shouldn’t have and that was one of the motivations for me to become General Secretary to restore us back to our values and to elevate the discourse. This is a serious country of 35 million people so we have to elevate the discourse,” he said on Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV.
