Ghanaian musician, Francisca Gawugah, professionally known as Sista Afia, has publicly thrown her support behind fellow musician Wendy Shay ahead of the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
In a Facebook post spotted by Ameyaw Debrah Media, the “Asuoden” hitmaker wrote succinctly, “Wendy Shay for AOTY🥂❤️”, signaling her endorsement for Wendy Shay in the ultimate Artiste of the Year category.
The post follows the announcement of nominees by the awards board on Saturday, March 14, where Wendy Shay earned seven nominations, including the coveted Artiste of the Year. She will compete against top acts such as Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Diana Hamilton, Black Sherif, and Medikal.
Fans quickly took to the comment section to commend Sista Afia for supporting her colleague, highlighting the solidarity between female musicians in the industry. Others also engaged in debates about which nominees deserved recognition in the various categories.
