The Somé Traditional Council formally installed nine new leaders during a vibrant ceremony steeped in cultural heritage on Sunday.

Three divisional chiefs, two queen mothers, and four ‘Agbotaduawo’—clan heads—took oaths of allegiance to Paramount Chief Torgbiga Adamah III.

The event unfolded at the palace forecourt in Agbozume, the traditional capital, marking the culmination of rigorous rites of passage under Somé customs.

Paramount Chief Torgbiga Adamah III charged the new leaders with upholding exemplary conduct and fostering unity across their communities. “You must become agents of change and ensure peace and harmony among your subjects at all times,” he declared, emphasizing their transition from ordinary citizens to custodians of tradition. He urged all Somé citizens to support the council’s efforts toward prosperity, calling for an end to divisive conflicts.

The installation durbar featured a rich display of Ewe culture, with traditional drumming, dancing, and ceremonial regalia. Leaders pledged to prioritize community welfare while preserving Somé’s cultural identity. The event underscored the council’s role in maintaining social cohesion amid evolving regional dynamics.
