Sports Minister congratulates Kurt Okraku on his appointment as CAF second Vice President

The Ministry for Sports and Recreation has extended warm congratulations to Kurt Okraku following his recent appointment as the second Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Minister Kofi Iddie Adams lauded the achievement as a proud milestone for Ghana, emphasizing Okraku’s dedication and leadership in advancing football on the continent.

In a statement issued on Monday April 28, 2025, Kofi Adams highlighted that Okraku’s new role would elevate Ghana’s voice in African football governance.

The Minister expressed optimism that this appointment would inspire a new generation of Ghanaian and African sports leaders to strive for excellence and make a significant impact on the global stage.

The Ministry also praised Okraku’s visionary initiatives aimed at developing football at the grassroots level. These include the “Catch Them Young” refereeing project, the establishment of zonal football academies, and efforts to identify and nurture young talent, which are seen as essential for the future growth of Ghanaian football.

Kofi Adams conveyed that this new position offers an excellent opportunity to further revitalize domestic football.
