The Director of Communications at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has revealed that the Ministry of Sports has approved the expansion of the Black Stars’ technical team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking amid reports of tension between the two bodies, Asante Twum dismissed claims of disagreement, stressing that the appointments were made in close consultation with the ministry. He noted that the strategy was discussed beforehand and received full backing.

“When we discussed this strategy, they were on board and had no problems with it,” he stated, reaffirming the collaborative approach between the GFA and the ministry.

On January 26, the GFA announced several additions to the Black Stars’ technical setup, including two assistant coaches to support head coach Otto Addo as preparations intensify for the tournament.

According to the GFA, the expansion is aimed at strengthening the team’s backroom structure to enhance performance and readiness ahead of the World Cup this summer.
