Stade Rennais head coach Habib Beye has singled out Ghana defender Alidu Seidu for praise, highlighting his fighting spirit as a quality some of his teammates lack.

Seidu, 25, endured a difficult campaign last season after being sidelined with a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury. He returned to the matchday squad last weekend against Angers but remained on the bench.

Reflecting on the players qualities, Beye pointed to Seidus impact in the clubs season opener against Lorient, where he came on as a substitute in the 4-0 defeat.

When he joined [against] Lorient, he made his mark with his technique, his ability to quickly relieve pressure, his dynamism and his aggressiveness,” he said. Some of our players sometimes lack that extra bit of aggressiveness, but Alidu has it,” Beye added.

Seidu has so far featured once in Rennes first two Ligue 1 matches this season, playing 17 minutes against Lorient.

On the international front, the defender has been excused from Ghanas squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifying double-header against Chad and Mali later this month.
