World Youth Clubs Executive Glenn Permuy emphasized STEM education’s critical role in solving complex societal challenges during the WYC-Math and Science Quiz finale in Anomabo.

Speaking on July 27, 2025, Permuy stated STEM fosters “curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving” mindsets, equipping youth to drive sustainable innovation. “Through STEM, we teach children how to think,” he stressed, praising the Boys and Girls Club for empowering future scientists and engineers.

Echoing this view, Molex Foundation founder Dr. Patrick Essie advocated integrating STEM with Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) to deliver practical skills for technological advancement. “Education alone isn’t enough,” he noted, committing to cross-continent initiatives that prepare youth for leadership in evolving industries. Essie challenged competition participants to become “architects of tomorrow,” leveraging science and technology for Ghana’s self-sufficiency.

Both leaders urged increased investment in STEM-TVET synergy, framing it as foundational for economic resilience under Ghana’s Mahama administration. Permuy highlighted the competition’s success in igniting discovery, while Essie positioned skills development as a catalyst for challenging “the status quo” in Africa’s innovation landscape.
