Kwamena Duncan has lambasted former President John Dramani Mahama over his recent verbal assault on religious and traditional leaders in the country.
The former President, at a campaign event, rebuked the Chiefs, Imams and Christian leaders for what he says they are pampering the Vice President and NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the ruling party instead of reprimanding them.
He said; “We have Pastors, Imams, Chiefs and civil society groups in this country who instead of rebuking the NPP, rather support them. When NDC says something, it is like we are the bad ones. They must rather joining forces with us to tell the government that, due to your wickedness towards Ghanaians, it is time for you to go. But you will see Chiefs commending them (NPP) that they have done good jobs.”
“In the churches, you see pastors praying for him (Bawumia) that the government has done a good job; we bless you and may God give you victory. He goes to the traditionalists and they pour wine to their shrines and ask their ancestors to guide him (Bawumia).”
He averred that “they are hypocrites” but stressed “I am confident that the NDC will win”.
In reply, the former Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan described the former President’s comments as disrespectful.
To him, it has become Mahama’s stock-in-trade to disparage the nation’s leaders but for him to graduate to raining insults on Chiefs, Pastors and Imams is absolutely unacceptable and distasteful.
“It is quite shameful!”, he exclaimed while making his submissions on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show.
