The vigil for the two young girls who lost their lives in the tragic East Legon accident took place today, Friday, October 18, 2024. It was a heartbreaking scene as Ghanaians gathered to mourn alongside the devastated families.

One of the most emotional moments came when the grandmother of one of the girls stood at the site of the accident, overcome with grief, unable to hold back her tears. The entire East Legon community, along with students and families, came together in sorrow to remember Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, both students of Cornerstone International Academy, who were taken too soon in a horrific car crash on Saturday, October 12.

Held at the site of the accident, the vigil was marked by deep sadness as candles flickered in the evening air. Prayers were offered, and touching tributes were shared, but nothing could ease the pain felt by family, friends, and all who had come to say goodbye. In silent grief, mourners held candles and flowers, reflecting on the loss of two bright young lives with so much ahead of them.

The tragic accident occurred when 16-year-old Elrad Salifu Amoako, son of Bishop Salifu Amoako, lost control of his Jaguar SUV (GN 7801-20), colliding with a 4×4 Acura vehicle (GR 2542-23) driven by Joseph Ackah. Both vehicles caught fire, and the occupants of the Acura were burned beyond recognition. The shock of such a devastating accident has left the entire community shattered.

Even well-known figures like John Dumelo and Nana Ama McBrown were present, offering their support, though there were no words that could truly comfort the families. It was a night heavy with sorrow, as the community gathered in collective grief to honor the memory of two young girls whose lives were tragically cut short.
